In 2005 our existing staff owned or worked for Dan’s Custom Awnings. In June of 2009 the business was sold. The new ownership retained all employees. The new owner and the existing management team partnered to grow the business. The company’s name was changed from Dan’s Custom Awnings to DC Awnings. The new awning company objective was simple: Brand integrity, quality awnings, great service, satisfied customers and positive word of mouth advertising. It worked and the company quadrupled its size in three and one-half years.

In October of 2012, we sold DC Awnings. It was the largest and most successful awning company in Oklahoma. At the time of the sale, repeat customers demonstrated that the company’s integrity was high and explained why DC Awnings maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, without a complaint filed.

The Company was sold twice and was never successful.  In 2017, we reopened a new awning company 'The Awning Company LLC'.  Our number one goal was to satisfy our customers in all respects and restore integrity to the awning business in Oklahoma City.  Hopefully, our name - The Awning Company - shows our commitment to be the best awning company in the Oklahoma City area.​   The company has excelled in this time.  

On January 1, 2023, Mark Albertson, who was a partner in The Awning Company, bought the company.  The company ran well.  Mark is no longer alive, and the prior owner had to take over the awning company on 12-17-2025.
